ROAD LINE MARKING MELBOURNE

Road Line Markings are an integral part of any road safety strategy. There are many different types of road line markings, each with its own specific purpose. For example, in Australia, solid white lines are sued to indicate the edges of lanes, while broken white lines mark the divisions between multiple lanes of traffic.

Most road markings and stencils are painted onto roads to indicate where vehicles should be positioned and help control traffic flow safely. They can also help to warn drivers of potential hazards or outline pedestrian crossings, stop lines, and other vital areas on our roads.

Typically, we use high-quality thermoplastic, paint, or reflective materials to mark lines on the road. Clearly defining the lanes and traffic flow, road lines help reduce chaos, confusion, and, most importantly, road accidents. In areas of high traffic, they need regular refreshing in order to remain visible.

Ultimately, road line markings are a simple solution that makes our roads safer for everyone.

How we do it

Most of us would take Road lines for granted, but they’re a significant part of keeping order on the roads. For high-traffic roads, our process begins with thermoplastic paint. This paint is made of thermoplastic beads that we melt down and dispense onto the road area. This paint is usually designed to reflect light, making the lines visible at night or in poor weather conditions.

Thermoplastic lines typically take several hours to cure and harden, after which it forms a durable and long-lasting road marking. Every surface is different, and every project is unique. Whether you need road line markings for a civil construction project, a school car park, or a main road, our team knows how to handle the job.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We can use a few different options of paint to mark lines on the road. Some of those options aren’t even “paint” in the traditional sense at all.

For high-traffic areas, we will most likely use thermoplastic that we create by melting down thermoplastic beads or powder into a highly durable, fast-drying paint that hardens as it cools down.

For smaller applications and intersections, we may use preformed thermoplastic. Preformed thermoplastic allows us to pre-cut or “perform” the lines and stencils, which are then heated to fuse onto the road surface. However, thermoplastic applications are only suitable for some areas and some climates.

We have several different road marking options available, and our team will assess the area before your project and suggest the best and most effective marking solution for your job.

Thermoplastics typically have a 3-5 lifetime before they need to be refreshed or re-painted. Thermoplastics have high skid resistance and extremely strong adhesion to the road.

The paint we use in lower traffic areas may have slightly lower durability; however, the application is often cheaper and faster. Our team will always assess the traffic prior to the job in order to determine the best tool for the job.

Drying times for various materials may vary based on a number of factors, such as cold, damp, or humid weather. Typically, thermoplastic materials have a very short drying time, and we are able to spray at speeds of up to 20km/hr.

There is a much longer drying time for projects where cold applied plastic is used, and traffic management may be necessary. Where acrylic or water-based paint is used, the drying time can be anywhere between 3 and 24 hours. We usually recommend that traffic be avoided for 24 hours after the application.

Our team is highly versed in all local and state regulations for road lines, and we will utilise all necessary lines and symbols to create a safe flow of traffic, turn lanes, and pedestrian crossings.

For the best adhesion of any road line marking solutions, we highly recommend that the surface be cleaned beforehand.

We recommend thoroughly sweeping the surface to clear it of any dirt or debris and pressure washing it if you have the capabilities. Otherwise, we can price separately for this, and our team is trained in adequately cleaning road-like surfaces for the application of line markings and stencils.

Absolutely! We have completed road marking projects on both public and private land, and our team is no stranger to completing projects in high-traffic car parks, residential areas, schools, and just about any other application.

If you have specific questions or concerns about your application, get in touch with us, and our team of professionals will be able to answer anything that’s on your mind.
